A while ago, before I discovered the whole concept of untaming myself, I was very interested in the voluntary simplicity movement. All about learning to make do with less, it's usually NOT about frugality but about our society's addiction to consumerism and methods for countering it in your own life. I recently revisited some sites and the message is still helpful. Consumerism is part of the domesticated lifestyle and forces us into a dependency on the pursuit of always more income and status. The movement has developed some good tips on how to break out of the consumerist cage. They would be even more effective if they discovered untaming themselves as a complete concept.

Excellent.
I have explored voluntary simplicity material to some degree and have found it to be generally very compatible with what's on this site.
Thank you for bringing up this topic and for the links that you suggested. I'll be adding them to my 'Resources' page and am putting them on my personal to-do list to study in much more depth. |
